Opportunity Over The Outcome

Sometimes I forget the times when I would envy watching other kids play sports

Finally came a small opportunity to step on the pitch and pass around the ball

Eventually this changed to wishing I would come off the bench

Then came a time, when wanting to win clouded everything else

And when I wouldn’t win, my grandfather would tell me…

“Granted, you’ve been dealt a bad deck of cards.

But at least you have a seat at the table.

Because there was a time when you couldn’t even imagine have the chance to lose”

“The opportunity to fail is a luxury, one that should not be overlooked because for some, participation is not a possibility.”
